Harford Streams Restoration Plans A program developed and administered by Harford County Watershed Protection and Restoration
Harford County Department of Public Works has completed watershed restoration plans in accordance with the County’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit Part IV E2 which states “...Harford County shall submit to MDE [Maryland Department of Environment] for approval a restoration plan for each stormwater WLA [waste load allocation] approved by EPA [Environmental Protection Agency]”. The County’s NPDES MS4 permit also requires a 30-day comment period before finalizing watershed restoration plans.
The watershed restoration plans are intended to outline the County’s plan towards improving water quality within streams determined by the State of Maryland to be impaired. The plans include potential projects and cost estimates and proposed schedules.
Watershed restoration plans are available at http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/1842/Restoration-Plans or arrangements can be made to review the documents in the County offices by contacting Christine Buckley at (410) 638-3217 extension 1176. The plans were posted for public comment from March 2, 2016 through April 3, 2016, but no comments were received.
