Additional Information

In Harford County the Liquor Control Board is a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization serving as an instrumentality of government. The Liquor Control Board consists of 5 Board members, an Administrator, Chief Inspector, Inspection staff, and administrative staff. The Board shall meet at least 50 times each year, but the Chair may cancel any of those meetings for lack of an agenda. All Harford County Liquor Control Board meetings are held under the guidelines of the Open Meetings Act, however, these meetings are considered administrative in nature.

Meeting Criteria

Liquor Control Board meetings can include any business before the Board including but not limited to:
  • License renewals
  • License transfers
  • License issuance
  • Payment of bills for operational costs
  • Protest hearings
  • Show cause hearings for violations of alcohol beverage laws
  • Special permits
  • Suspension/revocation of licenses

Recorded Meetings

All meetings are recorded for the purpose of public record. The Board can render decisions for all hearings, and shall report its findings at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board or within 14 calendar days of the hearing, whichever is earlier. The Board may also impose penalties (not less than $250 or more than $2000 and suspensions or revocations of licenses) for violations of provisions of Article 2B, and the Rules and Regulations for the Harford County Liquor Control Board.
