Harford County 911 Center

Harford County 911

Harford County 911 is a fully enhanced system offering both telephone number and location identification of the caller to the 911 operator.

In emergency medical situations we utilize the Medical Priority Emergency Medical Dispatch System.  This system allows the 911 operator to instruct the caller in pre-arrival medical care for the patient.  All of the operators are certified through the Medical Priority Emergency medical Dispatch Training.   Quality control is performed on randomly selected calls by a certified Medical Priority Emergency Medical Dispatch Quality Assurance Executive.

To assure public satisfaction with our system, certain 911 calls are selected at random and questionnaires are sent to the caller's address.  The survey asks the caller to rate the speed, performance, and service of the operator and other agencies involved in the response.  Since 1984, the number of calls into our 911 center has continued to increase.  Training and technology advances are maintained to better serve the demand for fast, professional assistance in a crisis situation.

A successful 911 education program has reduced the amount of unnecessary calls to 911.  This program focuses on children and teaches them the proper use of 911 through personal communication with a trained 911 operator.  A short film is used in the presentation.

Tours of the new 911 center may be arranged for small education groups by calling 410-638-3400.
