    Creek Snorkeling Eden Mill Nature Center will be offering this course on June 15, July 13, July 26, or August 30 from 12-2 pm for ages adult to 10. The fee for the course is $10.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members. Creek snorkeling sounds like a strange idea. But the underwater world of our rivers and streams is amazing! Snorkeling is one of the most powerful experiences we can have in our rivers and streams and it reveals the unexpectedly beautiful sights of our freshwater environments. Join underwater naturalist Keith Williams as we explore the underwater world of Deer Creek. We can expect to see a variety of fish and incredible underwater stream scapes. Wear a bathing suit and shoes that will stay securely on feet in the river. Bring plenty of drinking water. We’ll provide the snorkeling gear. The wide variety of activities require no prior expertise. Each activity builds new awareness about books, illustrators, and their art techniques. Each illustrator is paired with a book, and presented to the child artist for an art activity of creative value. Art techniques include: drawing, painting, collage, crafting/constructing.     PADDLE BOARD YOGA

    The Anita C. Leight Estuary Center is excited to partner with BeachBee Yoga and offer weekly sunset paddle board yoga classes on Otter Point Creek on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Participants can expect a core conditioning and body strength-training workout that is low impact and totally different from anything they've done before. All classes are 90 minutes and will meet at the Pontoon Pier for a quick introduction, demo on launching the boards, correct paddle technique, and standing up once you’re ready. No paddling experience necessary, but a basic knowledge of yoga is helpful. This program is for ages 14 – adult and the fee is $30/person per class.

    Phenology is the study of the timing of recurring life cycle stages of plants and animals. We are seeking volunteers to help monitor flowering plants and butterflies for Project BudBurst and Nature’s Notebook, online databases to help scientists understand the effects of climate change on phenology of native species. Each monitoring date will include a brief 10 minute training on targeted species ID and data collection protocols before heading out into the field. Participants should be able to handle 1/2 mile of easy trail walking. This study is for ages 16 to adult.

Participants will design a pattern of a hot air balloon gourd for painting. The basket weave for the basket of the balloon will be woodburned. Both pieces will be assembled. This is a great opportunity to replicate the hot air balloons that fly overhead. These will have a leather strap for hanging.     Star Observation Hike Eden Mill Nature Center will be offering this course on August 23 from 7:30 to 9:00 PM for adults 18 and older. The fee for the course is $5 for non-members and $3 for members. Have you ever wondered about what constellations are visible in the summer sky? Come join Eden Mill for a night hike to become familiar with the major constellations visible this time of year as well as the stories behind how many received their names. Learn basic observation methods that can be used in the field as well as how to navigate at night using the stars by locating the North Star and the Summer Triangle. Learn why non-native invasive plants are a threat to our ecosystem, how to identify problem plants, and removal and restoration strategies. Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and work gloves for field work in the Reserve each meeting date. Participants receive an “Invasinators” T shirt after attending two work days.
