KIDNAPPER SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS
A 29 year old Harford County man plead guilty on Thursday April 1, 2004, to kidnapping and sexually assaulting a four year old Riverside area boy. The incident occurred on August 10, 2003 when the four year old was taken from his neighborhood and driven to a nearby location where he was sexually assaulted. Michael Michaud, whose last known address was in Bel Air, was arrested by Harford County Sheriff's Deputies in September. DNA results linked him to the sexual assault of the 4 year old. Michael Michaud was sentenced by Judge William Carr of the Circuit Court for Harford County, to a total of 40 years incarceration. 20 years of that sentence was suspended and Michaud will spend 20 years in prison.
Assistant State's Attorney Diane Adkins Tobin, who prosecuted the case, said that the child's family was pleased with the outcome of the case and is glad to have the long ordeal behind them. Trial had been scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2004.
