DRIVER CHARGED IN FATAL ACCIDENT
The driver of a car that struck a pedestrian has been charged. Alice Marie Carson-Johnson was the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed Paul Joseph Thomas on 22 May 2004. Mr. Thomas of Edgewood, Maryland was crossing in a marked crosswalk in front of the Edgewood High School. Ms. Carson-Johnson was making a left turn from Perry Avenue onto Willoughby Beach Road when the accident happened.
Ms. Carson-Johnson has been charged with a violation of Transportation Article, section 21-502(a), Failing to Stop for a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. The possible penalties are 2 months in jail and/or $500 fine. The case was investigated by the Harford County Sheriff's Office and reviewed for chares by the State's Attorney.
