EDGEWOOD POOL SHOOTER SENTENCED TO 55 YEARS
Anthony Mitchell, who had been convicted by a jury in March of this year of a shooting incident at an Edgewood pool party, was sentenced today to serve 55 years in the Division of Correction. Judge Thomas Marshall sentenced Mitchell to 25 years on the first count of attempted second degree murder, 25 years to run consecutive to that sentence on the second count of attempted second degree murder and 5 years to be served consecutive to that on a count of reckless endangerment. A3 year sentence for use of a dangerous weapon was made to run concurrent to the other sentences.
The shooting occurred on 4 June 2004 during a graduation party at the Harford Square Community Pool in Edgewood. A disagreement at the entrance to the pool led to Mitchell returning with other subjects and opening fire with a shotgun. Two persons were hit. The case was prosecuted by Assisatant State's Attorney Vernon Gentile.
