VETERANS DEFRAUDED BY FELLOW VET
Allen Wayne Shatto, age 60, of Bel Air, Maryland was indicted by a Harford County Grand Jury on October 16, 2007 on 110 counts ranging from Theft to Forgery, Uttering and Conspiracy. The indictment reveals that between 2003 through 2005, Shatto, a prominent member of Maryland's VFW, targeted fellow veterans for loans to build a veterans' center in Harford County. Investments totaling almost one-half million dollars were subsequently diverted to Shatto's own use.
Shatto was arrested by Harford County Sheriff's deputies.
