COMMISSION ON VETERANS AFFAIRS

Membership: This commission has members from various military service organizations in the county.

In A Brief: The commission assists all veterans and their families in the county.
Description: The Commission on Veterans Affairs consists of 16 members. Membership includes veterans from various military services, county citizen who is an educator from Harford Community College, a county citizen appointed by the County Council, and a county citizen who owns or operates a local business recommended by the Harford County Chamber of Commerce. Members are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. The term of each member is coterminous with the County Executive.

A summary of their duties include:

1. To establish a forum for all Harford County veterans of military services, without regard to race, creed, gender, organizational affiliation, political or economic status

2. To maintain coordinated communication with county and local governments, businesses, and veterans of the county

3. To provide assistance, guidance, and information to the business and academic communities and the government to ensure adequate consideration of veterans in employment, education, training, and public programs

Meetings: 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., 3rd Floor Conference Room, 220 S. Main Street, Bel Air.
