FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

TREE TRIMMING: Q: When can the County trim or remove a tree?
A: If the tree is on a county right of way. Trees that are in the roadway are removed first. Please report emergencies to our Administrative Office. Other three removal requests are placed on a list for removal.
STREET SWEEPING: Q: When will my street be swept?
A: Each Spring Highway Maintenance District Shoops schedule their roads for sweeping to remove debris from the highway. Contact the Administrative Office to obtain schedule information.
POT HOLE REPORTING: Q: How do I report a pothole? How long will it take?
A: Contact the Highway Administrative Office to report potholes. Repairs are normally scheduled for completion within 24 hours of reporting.
DRAINAGE: Q: How do I request my storm drain to be cleared of debris? A sink hole?
A: All drainage problems should first be reported to our Administrative Office. They will contact the appropriate crew to inspect and respond to service requests.
COUNTY ROAD INVENTORY: Q: Is my road a County road?
A: If your street is green and you do not live on a numbered route (all numbered routes, i.e. 543, 22, 40 are State roads) your road should be a Harford County public road. Call our Administrative Office to verify if necessary.
SNOW REMOVAL & ICE CONTROL: Q: When will a truck be sent to my street to plow or apply sand or salt? How do I report damage to my mailbox, curb or yard?
A: Routes are scheduled based on the severity of the snow fall or ice. Normally trucks are scheduled to do emergency routes first, then minor roads and cul-de-sacs. Any damage should be reported to the Highway Administrative Office.

During snow clearing operations, avoid parking on streets and in cul-de-sacs. Cars should remain in driveways, if possible. Listen to audible alarms and watch for flashing lights warning of backing equipment. Maintain at least two car lengths minimum space behind large equipment, including dump trucks. Avoid being caught in the blind spot!
