Traffic Calming Requestsspeed trap

Requests for neighborhood traffic management must be made in writing by a Homeowners Association for neighborhoods with associations, or by individual citizens where no communityspeedhump association exists. Once the request is received, Harford County Public Works (traffic division) staff will conduct a traffic study of the road to determine the roadway classification, traffic volume, speed and physical geometry. This information is reviewed and points assigned to each category to determine if the road is eligible for traffic calming. The requestor will be notified in writing of the results, recommendations and, if applicable, the next steps in the process.

Street Light Requests

Residents can request the installation of a street light at intersections. See Intersection Lighting for installation details.

Traffic SignalsRed Light

Harford County and the State Highway Administration will investigate intersections throughout the County for the possible placement of traffic signals. If certain criteria are met, based on those established by the manual on uniform traffic control, a signal will be programmed for installation.
