ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Effective July 1, 2011 the following solid waste fees will change and be in effect:

  1. Automobiles, sports utility vehicles and vans with multi-purpose vehicle tags and vans without multi-purpose vehicle tags with seats behind the driver seat.  $5/vehicle.
  2. Pick-up trucks with a bed length up to  8 feet and a bed height up to 3 feet.  Small closed van (rated at under ¾ ton) with no seats or seats removed from behind driver seat.  $7/vehicle.
  3. Single or double axle trailers pulled behind private vehicles with a bed length up to 8 feet and a bed height up to 3 feet.   $7/trailer.
  4. All vehicles not meeting the above criteria will be required to cross the scales and will be charged $67 per ton in FY12, $68 per ton in FY13, $70 per ton in FY14, and $72 per ton in FY15.  There shall be a minimum charge of $10.  A cash deposit will be required at the time of crossing the scales for customers without a commercial account.  After dumping, the vehicle shall cross back over the scales and be weighed, at which time the customer will be paid any outstanding balance on the deposit.
  5. In the event the weigh scales at a County disposal facility are inoperable or because of a power loss cannot be utilized, vehicles which would normally be weighed on the scales shall pay the following fees:

    1. Large Closed Van $67
    2. Two-axle dump truck $201
    3. Three axle dump truck $402
    4. Two axle stake/open body/trailer dump $201
    5. Three axle stake/open body/trailer dump $402
    6. Under 16 cubic yard front/rear/side compactor $383
    7. 16 to 24 cubic yard front/rear/side compactor $478
    8. Over 24 cubic yard front/rear/side compactor $559
    9. Semi-trailer $1,273
    10. Roll-off bed under 25 cubic yards $335
    11. Roll-off bed 25 to 35 cubic yards $383
    12. Roll-off bed 35 cubic yards or more $430
    13. Reloading rejected waste $159

On Monday, March 1, 2010, the following changes to the solid waste disposal rules and regulations are effective:

  1. In order to conserve costly landfill space, certain materials will be limited to no more than twenty-five (25) percent of the waste for each trip of residential waste brought to the Harford Waste Disposal Center. This material includes new and used lumber, plywood, wallboard, insulation, fence materials, concrete, brick, block, asphalt, and other building materials.
  2. Single-axle pickup trucks and trailers with bed lengths not exceeding 8 feet and bed heights not exceeding 3 feet shall pay the appropriate fees for pickup trucks and trailers. Pickup truck and trailer beds exceeding these dimensions shall be weighed on the scale and pay the current tipping fee.
  3. Tires measuring 32 inches and greater, outside diameter, tread to tread, will not be accepted for disposal unless they are off the rim and quartered.
  4. Vehicles entering the landfill between the hours of 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. that cannot unload and exit the landfill by 3:00 p.m. will be asked to return on another day at an earlier time to dispose of their solid waste.
