Q: Water runs from my neighbors property onto mine.  Who can I call or what can I do about it?
A:
  • Water run off on one property in a constructed subdivision to another (ie: rain events, down spouts, sump pumps etc.) contact Engineering at 410.638.3545.
  • ANY dirty water running off of an active construction site contact Sediment and Erosion Control at 410-638-3127.
  • Draining of a pool contact the Health Department at 410.879.8322 or 410.838.1500.
  • Q: I saw someone dumping in an area where the runoff flows into a stream.  Who should handle this problem?
    A: Contact the Harford County Emergency Operations at 410-638-3352.
    Q: Who would I contact about burning leaves?
    A: Contact the Harford County Health Department for a burning permit at 443-643-0300.
    Q: A neighbor is changing his oil in his car and letting it run down the gutter into the sewer.  Who should I contact.
    A: Contact the Harford County Emergency Operations at 410-638-3352.
    Q: Where do I get rid of old fence, railroad ties, and pressure treated wood?
    A: You may take it to Harford Waste Disposal Center (HWDC) at Scarboro Landfill.
    Q: Who should I contact to find out the air quality report for the day?
    A: Contact Maryland Department of the Environment at 410-631-3247 (daily recording).
    Q: I've done a lot of remodeling and have wallboard and boards to get rid of.  Can I take it to the landfill?
    A: You may take it to Harford Waste Disposal Center (HWDC) at Scarboro Landfill.
    Q: The builders are cutting down a lot of trees on ground that is supposed to be wetlands.  Can they do that?  Who do I complain to and what can be done?
    A: Contact Planning & Zoning at 410-638-3103.
    Q: Where can I get rid of asbestos?
    A: Residents of Harford County can contact the HWDC Scalehouse at (410) 638-3638 to make an appointment to dispose of residential non-friable asbestos product. Contractors must make alternative arrangements.
    Q: I know a individual who has piles of tires on their property.  Is that legal?
    A: No, it is not legal.  Call Maryland Department of Environment Waste Management at 410-631-3304.
