MDE sets our guidelines as to how often we must test for chemicals. Our procedures and frequency of testing exceeds MDE minimum requirements.
Harford County Water Operations uses chlorine and filtration as the primary means of protection against pathogens.
Harford County Biosolids Recycling
The Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) and Harford County Government make beneficial use of BIOSOLIDS - a bi-product of wastewater treatment. Biosolids are residuals found in wastewater that is biologically treated to produce an organic fertilizer.
Industrial Pretreatment Program
The Pretreatment Program is responsible for the protection of the wastewater collection and treatment systems from contamination, upset, fire or explosion hazard, pollutant pass-through and the protection of workers' health and safety in the system.
