Root infiltration can cause a blockage to the sewer line servicing your home, resulting in sewage backup in your home and damages to your furnishings. Root control is a preventive maintenance project which includes those areas throughout Harford County where roots have infiltrated sewer lines.
The conventional method of removing roots by cutting or tearing is used to solve an immediate problem of stoppage, but this method does not retard the growth or destroy the roots outside the pipe. The County is using a foaming herbicide fumigant to destroy roots and inhibit their regrowth. This foam does not affect the above ground plant life. Service lines with the potential for root intrusion which will inhibit flows, produce stoppages and damage valuable pipe are treated so that existing sewer roots are destroyed and their regrowth prevented for an average of three years.

Should you experience this problem at your home call 410-612-1612.
