Department of Public Works Mission

Harford County Department of Public Works, guided by common sense, accountability and compassion strives to plan, construct and maintain the infrastructure to deliver a transportation network, water, wastewater, solid waste management services and public facilities to enhance the quality of life for all.

The Department of Public Works consists of a staff of approximately 425 employees and is responsible for an overall FY `06-'07 Budget of approximately $120 million. DPW is charged with road and bridge improvement, maintenance and inspection, traffic safety, water resources management, stormwater management and sediment control, environmental issues including landfills and recycling, and water and sewer utilities which also includes treatment plants.

The Director of Public Works responsibilities include the management and administration of the three Divisions in Public Works.
