On March 2nd, senior physicians at the Baltimore City Health Department joined regional and national pediatric leaders in signing a petition urging the Food and Drug Administration to warn the public and stop the marketing of cough and cold medications for young children. The action comes several months after the Health Department and pediatric leaders urged parents not to use these products for children under the age of 6. Over the last several years, at least four deaths of young children in Baltimore City have been associated with the misuse of cough and cold medications.
