PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 6, 2007 Contact: Bill Wiseman, Public Information Officer, (410) 638-8477 HARFORD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFERS FREE STOP TOBACCO CLASSES TO COUNTY RESIDENTS BEL AIR, MD (August 6, 2007)The Harford County Health Department is currently taking registrations for Stop Tobacco Classes to be held in both Aberdeen and Bel Air for county residents. These programs are provided to participants without charge. The six-week Bel Air classes will take place at the Harford County Health Department which is located at 119 Hays Street beginning on Tuesday August 21 with a Pre-Quitting class from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The five-session quit class will take place on Aug. 28, Sept. 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The Aberdeen classes will be held in Room 209 of the Harford County Health Department, 34 N. Philadelphia Blvd. The Pre-Quit Class will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon August 22 with the 5 session quit class following on Aug. 29, Sept. 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The classes include developing a plan to quit using tobacco, learning stress management techniques, receiving information on keeping weight under control while quitting, and discussing relapse prevention. Nicotine patches and lozenges are available to those participants who qualify. Pre-registration is required and the Pre-Quitting Class is mandatory for all first-time participants.
