BEL AIR, MD (May 18. 2006)The Harford County Cancer and Tobacco Community Coalition will sponsor the third annual 5K Race For Your Lungs and Family Fun Walk to celebrate World No Tobacco Day June 17 at the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air. All proceeds go to benefit the Harford County Cancer and Tobacco Community Coalition scholarship fund for Harford County high school seniors who are tobacco and drug free. Held rain or shine, the event will begin and end in the lower parking lot of the Liriodendron, 502 W. Gordon St. Registration will take place at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. The Family Fun Walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. Cost for the event is $15 per person for pre-registrations and $20 per person on the day of the event. This is an event to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco use and secondhand smoke. What makes it so great is the array of people that come out and support this event," said Andrea Pomilla, assistant director of Health Education and Public Information at the Harford County Health Department and chairperson for the 5K Race and Family Fun Walk. "We have recreation and seasoned runners participating in the 5K, and families bringing their dogs to stroll the Family Fun Walk. The Extreme Balloon Man and a disc jockey will be providing additional family entertainment. Pre-registration is recommended. All pre-registered participants will receive an event T-shirt.
