The Harford County Housing Agency offers several types of rental subsidy programs for income-eligible families. For more information, call 410-638-3045.
- HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (SECTION 8): EFFECTIVE JUNE 8, 2009 - WAITING LIST IS CLOSED. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Provides rental assistance to income-eligible families by paying a portion of their monthly rent, to help them afford a better place. A family consists of one or more household members, and the household income must meet federal income limit guidelines. [click here for more information...]
- RENTAL ALLOWANCE PROGRAM: The Rental Allowance Program provides a rent subsidy to low-income residents who are either homeless or in need of temporary emergency housing and are not eligible for any other housing assistance program, but are capable of returning to self-sufficiency. One year is the maximum period for the subsidy. Limited funding available.
- TRANSITIONAL HOUSING SERVICES: Housing counselors offer clients guidance in areas of education and employment, provide referrals to other helpful agencies, and assist them in their efforts to regain entry into mainstream society.
- HOUSING ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILIES WITH DISABILITIES (HAFD): Provides tenant-based rental assistance and supportive services to income-eligible families with HIV/AIDS. Supportive services are provided by the Harford County Health Department to assist with short-term rent, utilities, security deposit, and moving expense.
