HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM (HPP)

The Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) provides limited grants or loans to households with a pending eviction. By providing short-term mediation or linkages to resources, the program helps families and individuals who are at risk for eviction to stay in their housing. Funds are disbursed through the Department of Community Services to eligible non-profits and agencies.

FUNDING REQUIREMENTS:
	The Maryland Department of Human Resources' Department of Transitional Services announces funding availability once every 3 years. Requests all Local Administering Agency (LAA) submit, an application for funding. The local LAA is the Harford County Department of Community Development. Then the LAA submits a formal Request for Proposal to solicit proposals for funding from eligible applicants in our community. An eligible applicants must be 501 (c) (3), nonprofit organizations or agencies involved in either offering transitional or emergency housing to homeless persons, or homelessness prevention services to people at risk of homelessness. Eligible applicants must be actively involved in the Harford Roundtable, the homeless continuum for the county.
