Workshop A - Summer Internship Project: Opportunities for students 18 and older to obtain employment related skills through paid and volunteer experiences this summer. Students will receive assistance in identifying their job interests, finding, applying for and obtaining the job of their choice. Presenter: Jan Stauffer, Job Developer, the Arc Northern Chesapeake Region.
Workshop B - After High School: Planning for What's Next: What does a student need to do to get ready for "Life after High School"? What are the first steps? What are the school resources that can help with planning? What training options are available to students other than college after high school? Presenter: Craig Malone, School Counselor, Patterson Mill High School.
Workshop C - Workforce Technology Center (WTC): The WTC, a comprehensive rehabilitation facility operated by the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), serves individuals of high school age and up. Programs include vocational, medical, functional, and driving assessments; assistive technology; career training programs; job placement; independent living skills training; and many other services. Each summer, WTC offers nationally recognized college preparatory programs for students who are blind, have severe vision loss, as well as for students with learning disabilities. Find out how WTC's programs can help you design your future! Workshop D - How Can the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) Help Me? Learn about how DORS Counselors throughout Maryland are helping students with disabilities get ready to make the transition from high school to training, higher education, or employment. Presenter: Beth Derouaux, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, DORS.
Workshop E - Picture Yourself on the Job Join The Arc Players as they demonstrate some of the issues students confront as they transition from school to the workplace. Being on time, being considerate of other, cell phone etiquette at the workplace and the importance of good hygiene are just some of the topics tackled by this group in a sometimes humorous, but always insightful way. Presenters: Arc staff.
Workshop F - Picture Yourself in College: If college is in your future, check out services available at Harford Community College for students with disabilities. The session will cover three areas: how to receive services at college, classroom accommodations and selecting a college program of study. There is a variety of services and programs waiting for you. Presenter: Lorraine Peniston, Student Development Specialist, Disability Support Services, Harford Community College.

Workshop G - So You Want to Drive? Explore the "ins and outs" of obtaining a driver's license in Maryland when various medical conditions are present. Learn about the role of MVA's Medical Advisory Board; the Adaptive Driving Assessment, including Pre-Clinical Driving and Behind-the-Wheel Assessments; types of vehicle modifications; driving programs; and the role of the Division of Rehabilitation Services in the process. Presenters: Greta Tucker and Daniel Dubay, Workforce and Technology Center, Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Rehabilitation Services.
Workshop H - DDA Funding Rate Assessment: The "How's" and "Why's" of the Individual Indicator Rating Scale: Parents need to know how much money DDA will provide for their son's or daughter's supports at their chosen adult service agencies. Discover how funding levels are determined for students who are transitioning from school to adult supports. Presenter: Ross Albee, Lead Community Service Reviewer, APS Healthcare.
Workshop I - Applying for Federal Jobs: Learn how to look for federal jobs; research vacancies; read announcements; and learn the importance of showcasing your knowledge, skills, and abilities. Information on Schedule A, an alternate route to federal employment for individuals with physical, intellectual or psychiatric disabilities, will also be discussed. To prepare for this session, visit http://www.studentjobs.gov and click on the "Career Interests Center" tab to complete a skills/interests assessment to discover potential career possibilities with the federal government. Presenters: Dee McCrae, Employment and Training Specialist, Susquehanna Workforce Network, and Derick W. Serra, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, DORS.

Workshop J - Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for Students: How to Get SSI and Medical Assistance, Go to Work…and Live to Tell About It: Here's your chance to find out how a transition-aged student with a disability may qualify for cash benefits (SSI) and medical insurance (Medical Assistance), and how s/he can work without losing these benefits. If you thought that was impossible, don's miss this session! Presenter: Michael Dalto, Work Incentives Project Director, Maryland Department of Disabilities.
Workshop K - Mastering Your Money After High School: In this interactive workshop participants will learn how to manage their money in the day in and day out life after high school. Participants will create a budget as well as learn the credit card traps to avoid. This is a workshop you will not want to miss! Presenter: Michael Ches, Financial Education Specialist, Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union.
