Bel Air MD 21014

A transitional and permanent housing program for homeless women and women with children in Harford County. Families are referred to Anna's House by the Harford County Department of Social Services.

Birth & Postpartum Doulas

Chesapeake Birth Companions offers experienced, compassionate birth and postpartum doulas. Doulas provide continuous, caring labor support during the birth of your child.

Holds monthly networking meetings for the purpose of enhancing the personal and professional growth of women in the Harford County area.

Center for Divorce Education

Program reduces family conflict, depression, unhappiness, anger, school and homework problems, as well as substance abuse. Videos and books available for families suffering from the traumas of divorce.

Social activities for gay individuals.

Community Resource Center

The center provides psychosocial support, education and information about health and related concerns. Many support groups and educational classes are offered. Call for details and scheduling information.

Harford County Health Department's Office of Cancer Prevention Services offers no-cost mammograms, pap tests and breast exams to Harford County women age 40 to 64 who are under-insured or uninsured and meet program requirements. Call to see if you are eligible.

The Office offers no-cost colonoscopies to Harford County residents age 50 to 64 who are under-insured or uninsured and meet program requirements. Call to see if you are eligible.

The Office also provides education and prevention presentations on breast, cervical, colorectal, and skin cancer to organizations, groups, churches, clubs, schools, etc. at no cost. Please call to schedule a cancer presentation.

The Commission is composed of 15 volunteer members. The Commission assembles, analyzes, and disseminates information to help meet the needs of women; studies conditions that demonstrate inequalities and unmet needs and recommends procedures and legislation to remedy inequities; promotes a positive image of women, and helps to provide recognition of their accomplishments. Monthly meetings are open to the public; all are welcome.

Homecoming is a ten-bed halfway house for women. We coordinate with Harford County Social Services, Harford County Health Department and many other resources to facilitate the ability to return to a productive lifestyle.

A 105-year old national organization of Catholic Women who are Irish by birth or descent. Their goals are to foster Irish heritage and tradition through Catholic action projects and social activities. Harford County is two of ten divisions throughout the state. There are two adult divisions and one junior division of young ladies between the ages of 6-16 in Harford County.

Providing childbirth education and doula services in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Offers free services to pregnant teens and to women who could not otherwise afford this service if they are low-income and without a birth partner.

(Moms Offering Moms Support)

An internaational non-profit organization supporting mothers at home. Our activities are planned during the time mothers need the most support - during the day. Children are welcome and encouraged at all events, including business meetings. We offer playgroups, craft activities, local outings and much more.

A national not-for-profit organization that supports women who are taking time from full-time paid employment in order to raise their children at home. Mothers and More is for all women dealing with transitions between paid employment and at-home motherhood. It is NOT about opposing mothers who work outside the home. Mothers and More is about respecting, supporting, and advocating for choices in how one combines work and parenting. Many members currently work for pay in some capacity, most on a part-time basis. There are bi-weekly "Moms-Only" meetings, weekly play-groups, "Mom 'n Tot" activities, and family events. Call for more information.

Perry Point Women's Program and its community outreach clinics are committed serving all the health care needs of women veterans. They offer general health assessment and treatment including: GYN services (mammography and cervical cancer screenings), STDs, hormone therapy, etc.); cardiopulmonary disorders (including hypertension); colorectal cancer; osteoporosis; incontinence; immunizations; psychiatric disorders; addictions; nutrition counseling; smoking cessation; Pastoral and individual counseling; Women in Recovery Support Group; and sexual trauma treatment.

Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center

24-Hour Helpline: Confidential Helpline staffed by trained domestic and sexual violence counselors.
Companion Services: Accompaniment to the hospital and/or police station for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Victim's Counseling: Individual counseling and crisis intervetion for female, male and child victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Group counseling available for adults molested as children, sexually abusive relationships, rape survivors, and domestic violence victims.
Safehouse Services: Confidentially located safehouse for victims of domestic and sexual violence and their children.
Perpetrator's Counseling: Group counseling for perpetrators of domestic violence.
Legal Advocacy & Representation: Advocacy and/or court accompaniment for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Legal representation for Protective Orders and Emergency Custody Hearings, along with other civil remedies.
Professional Training & Education: Training, presentations and community education on both domestic and sexual violence.

Outpatient treatment is provided to all eligible veterans by a team of professionals who have specialized knowledge and experience in understanding the physical and emotional after-math of sexual trauma. Eligible veterans are those men and women who have been sexually assaulted or harassed while in the military or who have a history of sexual assault, rape, or incest. Call for information on all programs.

Aberdeen MD 21001

A non-profit organization providing social, financial and educational support to the youth in Harford County, guiding them toward academic excellence and improving their overall quality of life. The outreach program provides support to disadvantaged youth to aid them in overcoming difficult and challenging situations.

Bel Air MD 21014

Sparrow House provides a loving and secure living environment for young, unmarried pregnant women. Each resident of Sparrow House participates in a counseling program with a qualified counselor, who visits the home on a regular basis. Sparrow House provides education and training opportunities, including a certified home school program. Each resident takes childbirth classes and receives instruction in homemaking and essential life skills. Each mother and baby recieves complete medical care at professional facilities located nearby; certified obstetricians care for each woman during her pregnancy and through post-natal recuperation; and newborn infants receive pediatric care during the mother and baby's hospital stay.

A professional women's a cappella chorus which performs 4-part harmony, barbershop-style. Rehearsels every Monday 7-10PM in the Bel Air area. Women singers are invited to learn vocal technique, choreography and stage presence, and to perform with this award-winning group.

HealthLink and Screenings/Physician Referral

Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30
Health screenings, physician referral service and Speakers Bureau are provided. Speakers are available to present free programs on a variety of health issues to community groups and organizations.

A federally-funded program that provides healthy foods and nutrition counseling to pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children under the age of five.

(Women in Self-Help)

Telephone counseling service for women. All calls are anonymous and confidential. Resources and referrals provided.

WomanCare Doula Services is a birth and postpartum doula serving Harford County and beyond. Prenatal birth plan counseling, labor support and postpartum care including breastfeeding assistance. Barter available.

A support group for women who have had or about to have a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month in Room 6, 7:30 - 9:30 PM, at Franklin Square Hospital.

Community-based women's ministry that provides inspirational and motivational teachings, that encourage women to make positive decisions, to gain self respect and develop authentic and meaningful relationships through a supportive group setting as well as one-on-one support teams. W.O.W. sponsors educational, financial, social and spiritual workshops and assist with referrals.

Program gives full health benefits to pregnant women of any age. Program is for families with low to average income.
