Research:
The nationl Alzheimer's Association is the leading funding source for Alzheimer's research after the federal government. The Greater Maryland Chapter raises funds in support of these critical research efforts. We also educate families about current drug trials and opportunities to participate in research, and disseminate current research findings.
Volunteer Opportunities:
You can make a difference. Volunteers contribute in all aspects of the organization including services, education, advocacy and special events. Specialized training is available for helpline volunteers, support group facilitators and health fair representatives. Other volunteer opportunities include administrative activities in the local offices.
Short- and long-term volunteer opportunities include:
Office/Clerical: Stop in for an hour or so and help make packets, prepare mailings, type, file or other needed office-related services at our Timonium location.
Health Fair Outreach: Be trained to attend local fairs to distribute important information to guests. This is a great way to learn about Alzheimer's and serve your community. Training and materials provided. Locations and times vary.
Fundraising Events: Be a part of the excitement at various fundraising events from charity golf tournaments to our Memory Walks. There are many ways to get involved, from planning committees to day-of-event helpers.
Education/Community Speakers: Professionals can volunteer their time by presenting information about the Alzheimer's Association's serivces to small community groups within our region. There are also opportunities to work on special short-term projects within the education department.

Comfort Zone Camp is a fun and safe place for grieving children; it is the second largest bereavement camp for children who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. Camps are held in Richmond, Virginia and are open to all grieving children from across the country. Camp was developed by grief specialists to help children grieve.
Comfort Zone Grief Support Groups help families piece together the emotions and challenges of grief. Support groups are supervised by licensed grief therapists and are age-appropriate to understand the reality and circumstances of death. No fee to attend; however, preregistration is required.
