SKIPWITH GUILTY OF THREATENING JUDGES
William Skipwith, Jr., age 36, entered a plea of guilty on August 5, 2004, to four counts of threatening a State Official. The Defendant admitted to sending a threatening letter to Judge Victor Butanis, wherein he threatened to kill Judge Butanis, and sexually assault and kill three other district court judges, Judge Mimi Raffel Cooper of Harford County, Judge Megan Johnson of Anne Arundel County and Judge Alexandria Williams of Baltimore County. Skipwith received a twelve year sentence, seven of which he must serve in the Division of Corrections. The Maryland State Police investigated the case, Tfc. Jon Speck was the lead investigator. Deputy State's Attorney Diana Brooks prosecuted the case. The defendant will be required to receive psychological counseling upon his release from prison.
