TEACHER ENTERS GUILTY PLEA
A teacher who had been charged with molesting a student has entered a guilty plea. John Joseph Zappola plead guilty today to one count of sexual abuse of a minor. The defendant will receive a suspended ten year sentence and be placed onfive years probation. The defendant will resign as a teacher and not sek future employment as a teacher or where he will come in contact with children. The defedant will receive counselling and regfister as a sex offender.
The State agreed to drop the remaining charges. The case was handled for the State by Assistant State's Attorney Diane Tobin of the Harford County Chil Advocacy Center.
