JAVON HUNTER SURRENDERS TO POLICE IN FATAL HIT AND RUN
Javon Edward Hunter of Ashburn, Virginia surrendered to Maryland State Police troopers on an indictment. Hunter had been charged in a nine count indictment in the hit and run death of Ellis George Spencer, Jr. The indictment was returned on 19 February 2008 by the Harford County Grand Jury with 2 felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident, 2 misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident and related traffic charges.
The accident occurred on 17 July 2007, while Spencer was operating a motor scooter on the shoulder of U. S. Route 40 in Harford County. The motor scooter was struck from the rear by a vehicle which left the scene of the accident.
Hunter was released on a $25,000 bond.
