AA OFFICER CHARGED IN HIT AND RUN DEATH
On Tuesday, April 15, 2008, the Harford County Grand Jury returned an indictment of 28 year old Dane Patrick Hall, an Anne Arundel County Police officer. Hall was indicted on 13 counts: Manslaughter by Motor Vehicle, Homicide by Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, Homicide by Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol Per Se, Homicide by Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol Per Se, Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, Failure to Stop and Remain at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Failure to Stop and Remain at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death Reasonably Knowing Death May Occur, Failure to Stop and Remain at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Failure to Stop and Remain at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury Reasonably Knowing Serious Injury May Occur, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision. Hall was arrested on the charges on April 16, 2008. He was taken before a court commissioner and released on $100,000.00 bond. A trial date has not yet been set.
The charges stemmed from a fatal collision on Interstate 95 at 5:55am on January 28,2008. Hall's vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, operated by Hall, was traveling northbound on I-95 just north of Ripken Stadium when it struck the rear of a 1996 Ford Explorer operated by Antonio Martinez-Martinez. Martinez was killed in the accident, while his 2 passengers survived. Hall left the scene of the accident and was later located at his Perryville home, and his vehicle was located inside a detached garage displaying front end damage.
