RAPIST CONVICTED IN SECOND TRIAL
Ricky Shamar Washington, a 28 year old Edgewood man, was found guilty today in Harford County Circuit Court, of first degree rape, first degree sexual offense, first degree assault, third degree burglary and use of a handgun in a crime of violence in connection with an attack that happened in October of 2007.
The trial was a retrial, due to the first one ending in a mistrial back in November 2008. The trial was heard before Judge Angela Eaves and took a week to conclude. After a day and a half of deliberations, the jury returned their verdict. The victim is so very relieved and finally feels safe knowing Mr. Washington can not hurt her anymore. , said Lisa Hyle Marts, the Assistant States Attorney who handled the case. Mr. Washington is facingtwo life sentences. The sentencing is set for July.
