Child Advocacy Center

The Harford County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a multi-disciplinary, child-friendly place which has been operational since August of 1993. We are committed to the “best practices” in the investigation and intervention of crimes against children.

The CAC attained full membership (accreditation eligible) with the National Children’s Alliance in 1998 and was re-accredited in the spring of 2005. Our team consists of a Program Director, Forensic Interviewers, Family Advocates, Therapists, a Pediatrician, Local, County, and State Law Enforcement, as well as Assistant State’s Attorneys.

The CAC handles all aspects of sexual child abuse, child sexual assaults, child exploitation, and serious physical child abuse and child neglect cases within Harford County, Maryland - which includes the incorporated municipalities of Aberdeen, Bel Air, and Havre De Grace. We have an Inter-Agency Agreement, which gives us our authority, signed by the Executive Board members. The original agreement was made by the member agencies on October 6, 1993.

This approach allows us to decrease the overall impact of abuse by reducing further victimization to the children of our community. Under a separate agreement, the CAC is also designated as an affiliate agency with the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) for the investigation and intervention of technology-facilitated crimes against children.
