Homes and businesses in Harford County must have address numerals clearly displayed on their homes or buildings. Failure to do so hinders the response of ambulance, fire and law enforcement personnel who may need to find an address quickly during an emergency. A delayed response could result in additional property damage, serious injury or loss of life. Failure to properly mark your home could result in a fine.

According to Section 84-1 of the Harford County Code, homeowners must display numbers showing their address. The numbers can not blend into the house - they must be dark on light or light on dark - and must meet certain size and placement requirements. If you live off the road and/or have no mailbox, a sign displaying your address must be placed at the end of your driveway and it's recommended that your address be displayed whenever the driveway splits to other addresses.

Failure to comply within 15 days of official notification of a violation of these requirements may result in fines.
