The Watershed Stewards Jackie Workinger, Anne Steger, and Deb Stewart have proposed the Havre de Grace Lockhouse Pond Floating Wetland Installment to improve water quality on the shoreline of the Susquehanna River.

Floating treatment wetlands are a best management practice for removing pollutants from stormwater runoff, while offering valuable wildlife habitat and natural beauty. The primary function of the floating wetlands is to use native plants to remove nitrogen, phosphorus, sediment and other pollutants before they make their way to the Chesapeake Bay. The floating wetlands improve water quality by filtering, consuming, or breaking down pollutants.
